World Cup of Hockey 2016 Countdown Clock

On September 17, 2016 Toronto will host the World Cup of Hockey. In anticipation of the upcoming event the Wright XM team created a countdown clock timed to the moment the puck drops for the first game. Within the first hour of launch, the NHL Instagram account tallied over 30k likes.

The kiosk uses a high brightness LED screen, LED illumination on the sides of the structure, and a Raspberry Pi running an OpenFrameworks application to display the countdown clock. The RPi is calibrated with a GPS to provide near-atomic clock precision in abscence of the NTP servers.
