To launch the 2014/2015 season the Toronto Maple Leafs and MLSE turned to WrightXM to capture the pent up fan excitement. To measure this we developed a system which measured volume and movement. If the participant demonstrates enough excitement, they have the chance to win Leaf tickets.
The system uses OpenCV and an Optical Flow algorithm to establish movement, and a dB-SPL meter to determine volume in decibels. As the participant completes the time period in which they are measured a drawer is released and the prize in unveiled. The drawer is triggered by a solenoid which releases a weighted catch to pull the drawer open.
Kiosk mechanics and Leaf were produced by LairdFX.
